Therapy services
The Australian Psychological Society recommends an hourly rate of $318 for therapy services.
In an attempt to ensure access to services is more feasible, Cherish Psychology charges at a reduced rate.
Medicare rebates
Clients accessing services under a Mental Health Care Plan may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to
10 sessions per calendar year. We offer onsite Medicare rebate processing, which enables
eligible clients to claim their rebate on the day of their appointment.
Please note: Cherish Psychology is not a bulk billing service and out-of-pocket expenses
will be incurred.
Private health insurance
Individuals with private health insurance may be able to claim back a percentage of session fees. Please
consult your insurer to assess eligibility for rebates.
Please note: you cannot use private health insurance ancillary cover in conjunction with Medicare rebates
for psychology services.
NDIS Funding
Families accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) who are self and plan managed are welcome to access support. We are unable to offer intervention to families who are NDIS managed. Please note: our practice policy is for all session fees to be paid on the day of the scheduled
appointment (we do not provide unpaid invoices for you to submit to PRODA and pay in arrears). NDIS sessions are charged as per the current NDIS price guide.
Payment
All services must be paid for in full at the start of each session.
Preferred payment methods
EFTPOS or bank transfer is our preferred method of payment.
Receipts
Receipts can be provided for rebate purposes where relevant.
Questions
If you would like to clarify likely costs before booking, please contact us and we can guide you.
Reports, telephone calls, and external liaison
Any costs are always agreed in advance.
Reports
In some circumstances, clients may request that a progress report be written for a workplace, school, or
external agency (e.g., paediatrician). In these instances, a fee will be agreed and charged for
preparation of such reports.
Telephone calls and liaison
Phone calls to external agencies such as schools or family members (with consent) will incur a charge.
These costs are agreed in advance and payment is required before the report is sent or the call is made.
Clarity first
If you are considering external liaison or a report, please contact us and we can discuss what is needed,
the likely timeframe, and the agreed fee.
Missed appointments and cancellation fees
We recognise there are circumstances beyond a client’s control; however, to continue operating a supportive
service, cancellation fees apply as outlined below.
48 hours’ notice
A cancellation fee will be charged if less than 48 hours’ notice is provided for a missed,
cancelled, or rescheduled appointment. This fee must be paid prior to your next session commencing. In order to avoid cancellation fees, you must contact your psychologist to cancel or reschedule your appointment BEFORE reminder text messages are received.
Rescheduling
If you are unable to attend an appointment, please contact us as soon as possible. Efforts will be made to
reschedule your appointment in a timely manner; however, the cancellation fee for the missed/cancelled/
rescheduled appointment will still apply.
Unfortunately, we are unable to fill cancelled appointments at short notice.
Reminders and rebates
As a courtesy, a reminder text message is sent 2 days prior to your scheduled appointment. However, the
responsibility for notifying us of the need to cancel or reschedule remains the client’s and a
cancellation fee will still apply regardless of whether reminders are received.
Medicare and private health funds do not provide rebates for missed and cancelled appointments. Families
accessing services through the NDIS are able to pay for cancellation fees using their funding.
